Project Description

Serval has developed a major foothold in the Kalahari Copper Belt (KCB) via the proposed acquisition of Kalahari Copper. Through the acquisition, the Company will become the 100% owner of 17 licenses covering 1,453 km2, which will establish Serval as one of the largest land holders in the KCB and the Bushman Lineament.

About the KCB

The KCB, approximately 1,000 km long by up to 250 km wide, is a North East-trending Meso- to Neo-proterozoic belt that occurs discontinuously from Namibia and stretches into northern Botswana along the north-western edge of the Paleoproterozoic Kalahari Craton. The belt contains copper-silver mineralisation, which is generally strata bound and hosted in metasedimentary rocks that have been folded, faulted and metamorphosed to greenschist facies.

In 2023, the KCB cemented its position as an emerging major copper producing district further to the acquisition of the Khoemacau Copper Mine and exploration assets by MMG for US$1.9 billion. Sandfire has also established producing operations, with the Motheo mine commencing production in record time.

The KCB remains underexplored and is regarded as one of the world’s most prospective areas for new sediment-hosted copper discoveries by the US Geological Survey.

About the Botswana Licences

The KCB licences are in prime acreage among operating mines and development assets owned by major copper producers, being along strike and adjacent to operations held by MMG, Cobre, and Max Power, positioning Serval as a significant player in the region with high conviction exploration assets. The Company will also, via the acquisition of Kalahari Copper, gain access to a licence in the Bushman Lineament PL85, which is adjacent to the previously producing Kopane mine.

Historic and recent drilling has intercepted copper-silver mineralisation within the licences. Geochemical and geophysical studies have confirmed the presence of high-grade mineralisation and identified key structural controls such as regional anticlines and pronounced geophysical anomalies, indicating strong potential for significant copper discoveries. Ongoing and planned exploration programmes aim to build on these results with more targeted drilling, enhanced airborne and ground geophysics and systematic soil sampling.
